The Brown Bear Foundation took part in the Narcenatur Fair in Cangas del Narcea with an information stand dedicated to promoting coexistence between people and bears. The event, organised by the local council of this Asturian municipality, took place from 6 to 8 June. The municipality is one of the nine partners in the LIFE Human Bear Coex project coordinated by the Brown Bear Foundation.
Narcenatur fair is a major local event held in one of the areas with the highest density of brown bears. Every year, it brings together thousands of residents and visitors to celebrate local traditions, hunting, fishing, tourism, and regional products.
As coexistence with wildlife is a highly relevant topic in Asturias, the Brown Bear Foundation’s participation in this local fair was particularly important. Through its information stand and children’s workshops, the team engaged with local residents and families, raising awareness about living alongside wildlife and fostering a positive dialogue on human–bear coexistence.
